Las Caletas

If you visit either Puerto or Nuevo Vallarta, a day cruise to Las Caletas is a MUST SEE!

To start, we elected for the 2nd departure which leaves the marina about 11:30. The earlier departure leaves at 9:00.

On the way, we encountered no less than 5 whales on our 45 minute cruise (aboard a stunning catamaran) to Las Caletas. To see a whale breach 100 yards away and then casually swim by was worth the cost of the trip right there.

Now, for those of you who have taken a Caribbean cruise, you know most cruise lines offer a day at their "private island" for a "picnic". A daytime tour/cruise to Las Caletas is that picnic on steroids!

The beach is gorgeous, the food & liquor is good & plenty, and the service was fantastic. In addition, you can opt (for an addition cost) to swim with sea lions, take a scuba lesson, or REALLY relax in the spa.

I didn't get an accurate count of the amount of people there that day, but I had no problem finding a stretch of secluded beach to enjoy a freshly purchased Cuban (cigar!) in sunny solitude after a delicious buffet lunch. A quick swim, a little nap, and a couple drinks later, we're back on the ˜cat for the ride home.

A GREAT way to spend the day!

I agree, it's an excursion you shouldn't miss.

Las Caletas

I'm pretty sure Las Caletas is where Rhythmems of the Night takes place At night, the place is all lit up with torches. Pretty impressive.

You're right!

They are the same place. You probably wouldn't want to do them both in the same day, although the experience are completely different.
