Las Caletas
When you're in either Vallarta or Nayarit, the Las Caletas excursion offers a full days activity. For comparison's sake, think of the "private island" excursions from the cruise lines. However, instead of sharing the space with 1000-1200 others, the crowd as of this review was less that 1/10 that. A full buffet of hot and cold dishes provide a variety of options for lunch. Many full-bars scattered throughout the facility make getting drinks very easy (as well as the catamaran ride both there and back). There are plenty of places to get bottled water as well. To complement the (free) snorkling and kayak lessons, there is a guided nature walk as well as some hosted interaction with baby monkeys and Macaws in the sancuary section. Superior's visit in January should offer some quality whale-watching opportunities both from the 45-60 minute cruise and from the beach at Las Caletas. Optional activities include scuba lessons, interaction with sea lions, and a tranquil, hilltop spa.
