The "second best" part of your Mexican Riviera cruise stopping in Puerto Vallarta is while you're in port, you're already at "ground zero" for meeting with local tour operators. The "hotel people" have to grab a cab to get to the marina for their tours. You just have to walk down the stairs!

If your staying on the west side of Nuevo Vallarta on Flamingos Beach, a neat way to spend the day (and get some good excercise) is to take a morning walk (about 1 mile) along the beach to the neighboring town of Bucieras.

I'm constantly amazed at the comments from travelers that I read at travel review sites. They start out preening over what a "great deal" they found on the internet and then proceed to rip the hotel because they got a room overlooking the parking lot! This isn't an isolated occurrence.
