Bucerias - A "Real" Mexican Beach Town

If your staying on the west side of Nuevo Vallarta on Flamingos Beach, a neat way to spend the day (and get some good excercise) is to take a morning walk (about 1 mile) along the beach to the neighboring town of Bucieras.

Bucieras is a cool little beach town with a ton of personality. Forget about commercialism....this place is the real deal! There a alot of little shops to browse for affordable souvenirs. Thirsty?, little cantinas abound! Neat little bogegas to load up on beach provisions seem to be on every corner. Or if you've had enough sun, pick one of the wide variety of restaurants along the beach and park yourself under a palapa for Coronas, Margharitas, and some authentic Mexican food.

After sunset, (and a few pitcher of your beverage) the hotels of Nuevo Vallarta look alot closer than they actually are. Do yourself a favor and take a cab back. There are plenty around and cost less than $10 to any hotel in Nuevo Vallarta.

Best Website for Bucerias

I was doing some research on this town, loved all the information on www.bestofbucerias.com You can see all the restaurants, hotels, tours and rentals - This is the most complete site in all Banderas Bay!

Bucerias

We normally stay at Palmar so Bucerias is an easy walk. We spend most of our time there. There are a bunch of American who are down there for the winter. Make no mistake...there people have $$$, but are just normal Joe's while on the beach. You better get there quick though. The last time we were ther (Dec '06) the construction was getting a bit unruly.

Walk from Palmar

We are staying there this week and was wondering how short the walk is since we have a 13 month old with us. Is it under a mile?

Bucerias

It really is a cool little town. We found the day before we were supposed to leave. Got there around noon and back to the hotel after 10P and we still had to pack. It was a 10 hour party. DO NOT MISS IT!
